Please enjoy this devotion written by Evangelist Herman Snell from Revive All Nations Ministries.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45 (NKJV) The phrase, “and to give His life a ransom for many” really means, that Jesus became the price of release to free you from the bondage of sin that once held you captive. The Message translation of the same verse uses the word hostage to describe the condition you were in.

In the natural, to describe this, one can think of a criminal, who holds people hostage. The condition for their release is that a ransom (the price of release) be paid for them to go free. This ransom in most cases is a large sum of money.

Dear friend, this example really helps us to see, what the blood of Jesus accomplished for us when we were hostages of the devil before salvation. Take a moment and thank Jesus for paying with His life to set you free!

This ransom, this cost, this price was the precious blood of Jesus that flowed from Calvary’s cross for you. Oh how precious is the blood of Jesus. You and I according to 1 Peter 1:18 were redeemed or purchased with the precious blood of Jesus as a lamb without blemish and without spot.

There are so many people in the world that need to hear that silver, gold, money, popularity, status and so many other worldly things cannot give true freedom. They need to hear from your lips dear child of God that by placing their faith in what Jesus did and became for them brings true freedom and eternal life. Get going and introduce people to the One who became a ransom for their freedom.
